Mobile App Privacy Policy

This Mobile App Privacy Addendum applies to the Hail Protector mobile app for iOS and Android. It supplements the main Hail Protector Privacy Policy, which governs data collected through our website and online store.

Where this addendum and the main policy conflict regarding app-specific data practices, this addendum controls.

Information You Provide

• Email address: Used for one-time passcode login — no passwords are stored
• Location details: Label, address, city, state, and coordinates for locations you save
• Vehicle details: Year, make, model, body type, dimensions, and nickname
• Display name: Optional name shown in your profile
• Notification preferences: Push, email, and alert sensitivity settings

Collected Automatically

• Device push notification token: Required for delivering weather alerts
• Device platform: iOS or Android, device name, and app version
• Authentication session tokens: Stored locally on your device only
• Dark mode preference: Stored locally on your device only

With Your Permission

• Precise GPS coordinates: Accessed only when you tap "Use My Location" — the app never uses continuous or background location tracking

Not Collected

• Payment or financial information
• Contacts, photos, camera, or microphone data
• Browsing history
• Advertising identifiers

Data Linked to Your Identity

Email, saved locations, vehicles, notification preferences, and device tokens.

Data Not Linked to Your Identity

Anonymous/demo mode sessions — no personal information is collected or linked.

Your data is used exclusively for app functionality:

• Weather monitoring: Monitoring severe weather near your saved locations
• Alert delivery: Sending push and/or email alerts when hail or storms threaten your area
• Product recommendations: Recommending protective covers based on your vehicle dimensions
• Weather display: Showing forecasts and historical storm data for your locations

Your data is never used for advertising, analytics, profiling, or tracking.

The app uses the following categories of third-party services to deliver its functionality:

• Cloud database and authentication provider: Stores your account, locations, and vehicles
• Push notification delivery service: Delivers weather alerts to your device
• Email delivery service: Sends email alerts when enabled
• Weather data and geocoding providers: Supplies forecasts, radar imagery, and location lookup
• U.S. government weather agencies: Provides publicly available storm and radar data

Third-Party Data Handling

• Third-party SDKs in the app collect only your device token and platform — no behavioral, advertising, or analytics data
• No data is sold to or shared with third parties for advertising purposes
• Third-party services receive only the minimum data required to perform their function

The Hail Protector app is built with your privacy as a core principle:

• The app contains zero analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs
• No cookies are used in the app
• No behavioral profiling or interest-based targeting
• No data is shared with ad networks

Push notifications are used exclusively for severe weather alert delivery:

• Your device token is registered only when you enable push notifications
• The token is marked inactive when you disable notifications
• Tokens are used exclusively for severe weather alert delivery — never for marketing or promotional messages
• You can revoke notification permission at any time via your device settings or the in-app toggle

We implement multiple layers of protection for your data:

On Your Device

• Authentication session stored locally on your device
• Preference data (dark mode) stored locally on your device
• No data cached on device beyond your active session

In Transit

• All communication between the app and our servers uses HTTPS/TLS encryption

On Our Servers

• Server data stored on access-controlled, encrypted cloud infrastructure
• Database access restricted to authorized services only

You can delete your account directly in the app at any time:

Deletion is immediate and permanent — no waiting period, no manual request, and no email required.

What Gets Deleted

The following data is permanently removed in a cascading deletion:

• Your profile and display name
• All saved locations
• All saved vehicles
• Deployment records
• Notification history
• Device tokens
• Storm exposure records

Anonymous / Demo Accounts

Anonymous and demo accounts are not persisted after your session ends.

You can use the app without providing any personal information:

• Demo data is auto-generated and not linked to any real identity
• No email, location, or device data is collected in anonymous mode
• Anonymous sessions are not stored or persisted

For users subject to GDPR or similar international privacy regulations, we process your data under the following legal bases:

Consent

Push notifications, email alerts, and GPS location access — granted explicitly by you and revocable at any time through the app or your device settings.

Legitimate Interest

Severe weather monitoring and alerting for the safety of you and your property.

Contract Performance

Providing the app service you signed up for, including weather monitoring, alerts, and vehicle protection recommendations.

European Users (GDPR)

European users retain all rights under GDPR, including data portability, the right to erasure, and the right to lodge complaints with supervisory authorities. Contact us at customerservice@hailstormproducts.com to exercise these rights.

The Hail Protector app is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If a parent or guardian believes their child's data was collected through the app, please contact us immediately at customerservice@hailstormproducts.com for immediate removal.

If you are a California resident, the following applies to your use of the Hail Protector app:

• We do not sell personal information
• We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising
• You may request access to or deletion of your data at any time
• You can delete your data instantly via Profile → Delete Account in the app, or contact us at customerservice@hailstormproducts.com

In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information:

• We will notify affected users within 72 hours of becoming aware of the breach
• Notification will be sent via email and, where possible, through an in-app notice
• The notification will include the nature of the breach, the data affected, steps we are taking, and recommended actions for you
• We will also notify relevant supervisory authorities as required by applicable law

We may update this Mobile App Privacy Addendum from time to time. When we make changes:

• We will update the effective date at the top of this addendum
• Significant changes will be communicated via an in-app notice upon your next login
• Material changes that affect your rights will require your acknowledgment before continued use
• The updated addendum will always be available at this URL

Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated addendum.
